About G.O.A.T.S. Basketball
Our Origin
Our founder, Robin Dickerson, who was a breakout star at Mount St. Michael high school in the Bronx and then went on to play for LIU, decided there were no in-depth basketball development programs in his area of the South Bronx and wanted to provide that for the children in his community and the surrounding areas. He first started within city parks, gathering children from the neighborhood and taking them to local parks to teach them basic fundamentals of basketball. Shortly after, he realized just how much a service like this was needed and wanted to actually make a program which could help more children. Enlisting the help of some friends in the neighborhood who all played basketball at some level, G.O.A.T.S. Basketball was formed. G.O.A.T.S. Basketball is now a 501(c)(3) organization which is self-funded and serves children between the ages of 6-17. Knowing the financial hardships many families and parents are facing, the program is completely free for the children. They are taught discipline, respect, conversational skills and manners alongside in-depth basketball training, strength and conditioning, basketball IQ and learning how to read defenses and offenses and make adjustments.
Our Coaches
Our coaches, take a vested interest in teaching the children in our program how to be well-rounded basketball players and even better people. Basketball is at the core of the program, however, our coaches take pride in making sure the children know they have someone in their lives they can talk to and confide in as a coach and mentor.
Our Purpose
Our purpose at G.O.A.T.S. Basketball is to provide a safe environment for children to learn a skill that can possibly help them pay for a good education and open up doors of opportunity, they otherwise, never thought were possible.
